Have you ever played Myst or Riven? If you have, you know that the games just wouldn't be the same without the soundtracks.
If you haven't, then you've really missed something! To tell you the truth, I've never heard a game soundtrack that could
be listened to all by itself. But Robyn Miller seems to have the talent to do just such a thing. Applause also for Chris Brandkamp,
who did the sampling. I know how much work it takes to get a set of good samples together. You'd really believe they'd contracted
an orchestra!
The music is quite atmospheric, as is needed for such a visual game as Myst. Various themes keep recurring, which makes
for very attractive listening. It's quite interesting following Achenar and Sirrus around the various ages from a musical
perspective. The music completely immerses you in the atmosphere of each age. Interesting are also the bonus tracks which
weren't used in the game. I was really very pleasantly surprised by this album!
